Impacto de la exposición a pantallas en el desarrollo del lenguaje infantil: una revisión sistemática

Resumen

Introducción: La exposición a las pantallas durante la primera infancia ha ido aumentando de forma significativa durante los últimos años, el avance de las tecnologías, así como la normalización e incorporación de los dispositivos al entorno familiar y educativo han contribuido a esto. Debido a este incremento, la preocupación sobre su impacto en el desarrollo del lenguaje infantil ha aumentado considerablemente, ya que esta habilidad se adquiere durante los primeros años de la infancia y depende mayormente de las interacciones sociales y verbales con el entorno. Objetivo: Analizar la relación entre la exposición a pantallas y el desarrollo del lenguaje expresivo y receptivo en niños de 0 a 6 años. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica publicada entre 2020 y 2025 en Pubmed, Dialnet, SciELO y la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud. La búsqueda fue llevada a cabo mediante diferentes combinaciones de términos relacionados con las variables y el operador booleando “AND”. Tras aplicar criterios de inclusión y exclusión, se revisaron 33 estudios originales con diseño observacional, transversal y longitudinal. Resultados: La mayoría de los resultados indican que una mayor exposición a pantallas en la primera infancia se vincula con un peor desarrollo del lenguaje, en especial del expresivo, el vocabulario y la complejidad sintáctica. Estos efectos son de mayor consistencia en edades tempranas, concretamente entre los 12 y 36 meses, con más de dos horas al día de exposición. Conclusión: La calidad del uso, la co- visualización con interacción adulta y la lectura compartida actúan como moduladores, reduciendo el impacto negativo y asociándose con mejores resultados a nivel lingüístico.
